Americans Head to the Polls

Even before Election Day, nearly 100 million ballots had already been cast.

Tens of millions of Americans are heading to the polls to cast their vote for the person who should occupy the White House for the next four years.  Senate and House races, along with some governorships, are also on ballots, plus local legislators and other office holders, and ballot initiatives.

Homeland Security officials have urged voters to be patient while waiting in line, and, more importantly, to be patient in waiting for results.  Many states will not have final tallies for another week.

Homeland Security’s Acting Secretary Chad Wolf said the 2020 contest is “the most secure election in U.S. history.” He said the federal government was working with all 50 states to communicate quickly about potential threats to the election, and so far had not seen any signs of foreign interference on Election Day that could degrade or corrupt the voting process.

He also urged Americans to consume post-election information responsibly “by thinking critically and utilizing multiple trusted sources for their news and updates.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the safety of each person who is going for in-person voting on Election Day.
  • That pundits, news anchors, and others would show restraint in their predictive election outcomes, acknowledging that there will remain many votes yet to be counted.
  • For patience for President Trump, his family and staff, and for former Vice President Biden, his family and staff, as they await the tabulations of the votes of the American people.
  • With thanksgiving that America is a nation where individuals still have a means to make their voices heard.
